Last Tuesday, Code2College participated in the 5th annual Philanthropitch competition in which local nonprofit leaders take 3 minutes to pitch to a panel of celebrity judges for an opportunity to raise critical growth capital for their organizations.
The LBJ Auditorium at the University of Texas at Austin was packed with hundreds of supporters, donors and corporate sponsors eager to hear from nonprofit leaders representing Half Helen Foundation, College Forward, Thinkery, AIDS Services of Austin, Generation Citizen, Venture Lab, and of course, Code2College.
Our Executive Director, Matt Stephenson, delivered a powerful 3-min pitch (WATCH: Code2College Philanthropitch Video) to the panel of celebrity judges who included Kendra Scott (CEO and Founder of Kendra Scott Jewelry), Jag Bath (CEO of Favor), Leon Chen (CEO of Tiff’s Treats), Gay Gaddis (CEO of T3), Mellie Price (Executive Director of UT Dell Medical Center) and Clayton Christensen ().
Matt not only secured over $35,000 in growth capital to support the mission and work of Code2College, but he did such a great job of moving the judges that four of them each asked to hire two interns for the following Summer, as did Alamo Drafthouse, as a late entry (READ: “What caused all the excitement at Austin nonprofit pitch fest”).
We’re proud of Matt and thrilled by the support of the judges, Alamo Drafthouse, the Philanthropitch audience and the Notley team for organizing such an impactful event!
